Sub/Site Agent – (Highways) Freelance
ABOUT THE ROLE;
My client is a leading Infrastructure specialist managing highways maintenance and projects across Kent and Sussex. Work includes new drainage, joint replacement, structural waterproofing, surfacing/black top, Crash barrier renewal and bridge replacement.
They are looking to appoint, on a freelance basis a Site Agent for an immediate start. The suitable candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing sub-contractors on behalf of Highways England.
This role is mostly based from the office with site visits required and you will be required to set up job packs/files for multiple up and coming highways projects.
The responsibilities include reviewing technical specifications, approving and writing RAMS, ensuring H & S procedures and plans are in place. You will be required to ensure traffic management is in place, keep dairies, ensure permits signed off and site operations are efficiently met. The site works are overseen but a supervisor and mostly take place at night.
The work involves resurfacing the bridge ramps/walk ways, replacing the bridge beam and repair and repainting the structural elements.
Implement the relevant requirements of the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Procedures and Guidance.
Ensure that all plant and equipment deployed on the Network complies with current health and safety legislative requirements
Reporting all health and safety incidents involving the company and Supply Chain staff to the Network Team Managers
Ensure compliance with the company Environmental Management System with regard to day-to-day operational activities
Monitor scheme construction programmes, including resources,
Review the drawings and specification to identify errors and omissions and seek to resolve with the Manager and Design Lead.
Supervise works on site and ensure all works are in accordance with the specification and to the contract drawings.
Conduct and record on-going interim physical measurements during works and upon works completion
Be fully conversant with contract conditions.
Maintain records, and use these to manage and control resources.
Communicate with the Manager, the Construction Manager and the Commercial Manager issues of non-conformances and contractual correspondence. Ensure that comprehensive records are maintained.
Maintain records of work related discussions with the HA / design team.
Review and approve site documentation
Keep abreast of developments throughout the business
Adherence to company policy and procedures
Perform the Watchman role
Any other tasks commensurate with the role
Ideally qualified with HNC/ONC or Degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant subject.
At least 5 years of experience of working with a Principal Civil Engineering Contractor.
CSCS Supervisory Card and SMSTS.
Experience of Highways and asset management would be advantageous.
