Description

About this Role:

We are searching for a Senior Temporary Works Designer to work for a Tier 1 Contractor who have a variety of live projects and have recently tendered for several more based in Swindon, London and surrounding and Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire, focussing on the rail, highways and infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will primarily have experience of Temporary Works design for civil engineering, rail-related, highways and infrastructure projects.  A Civils Contractor site background and/or Engineering qualification is highly desirable.

As the Senior Temporary Works Designer, you will in turn support the training and mentoring of new appointed temporary works designers and graduates working in the Technical Services department. In addition, the function of all engineers based at head office is to assist with the preparation of tenders as part of the Work Winning team.

This can include:

Development of methodology and sequence

Identifying and assessing temporary works

Logistics planning

Assessing overhead requirements

Liaison with the supply chain

Assisting and advising the bid manager, estimator and planner

Liaison with Operations teams including project based engineers.

Responsibilities include:

Manage the process, resolution and communication of all design queries as part of the project.

Produce temporary works designs and checks as required from the projects.

Produce design risk assessments/method statements

Review suppliers' risk assessments/method statements

Explanation of works preparations to the project management

Deal with requests for further information from suppliers/ sub-contractors

Specify and monitor temporary works schemes

Produce outline ITP’s

Ensure high standards of work production/instigate robust checking procedures

 

 

About the Company/Client/Project:

The client is a Tier 1 Building & Civil Engineering Contractor. Their core focus is on delivering complex infrastructure projects but also cover engineering, mining and services extensively, with highways, rail, heavy civil engineering and infrastructure schemes forming the bulk of their workload.

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

HND or HNC in a relevant subject or A BSc in Civil Engineering or equivalent, with recent relevant experience in a similar role.

Candidates must be able to prove their eligibility to work in the UK
