Description

About this Role:

We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Engineer to join a principle contractor in civil engineering, whom specialise in highways, aviation, rail and water. Due to increased work load and recent successful tenders in new regions, they are looking to expand the team; in particular to work on a large highways project in the south west in collaboration with Highways England. They have secured a large amount of work over the next few years, which will push them to capitalise on future works.

They are seeking a Senior Engineer who will take full responsibility for setting out, engineering control and quality in addition to coordinating and mentoring the site engineering team.

Reporting to the Site Agent, you will manage the site engineering team, delegate tasks, train & mentor junior engineers and lead by example.

The project includes upgrading and expanding of the existing single carriageway to a dual carriageway, three new junctions, two new structures and significant earthworks. The original site comprises a mix of dual and single lane carriageway, which leads to localised congestion, impacting adversely on journey times and reliability. This section also has a poor accident record as a result of poor junction alignment and visibility, and changes in road type.

The scheme will reduce congestion, improve journey times and make our network safer for customers.

Duties, not limited to:

Write, review and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)

Write, review and implement Inspection Test Plans (ITP’s)

Ensure works are carried out as per ITP’s including correct engineering checks, hold points, inspections and tests.

Manage the site engineering team, delegate tasks, train & mentor junior engineers and lead by example.

Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.

Assist the Site Agent in planning and coordinating the project and resources.

Raising design related Request for Information (RFI’s) and Technical Queries (TQ’s).

You will have:
