Senior Project Manager
About this Role:
Experienced Senior Project Manager required by the South Coast office of this busy main contractor.
Initially to take the lead for a £26m new build secondary school project in Portsmouth. Enabling works are due to commence later this year, with the main works commencing early in the new year.
Thereafter, scope of work for this main contractor will include projects ranging £20m-30m value in the secondary and further education plus leisure sectors in the Hampshire and Dorset areas.
As Senior Project Manager within the business, you will be responsible for the tender and delivery of the larger schemes that the region delivers. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for managing the projects through preconstruction stages through to start on site and then construction though to handover. You will lead your team holding ultimate responsibility for client liaison, design development, construction methodology and programming of works, the smooth and timely progress of construction on site, and financial control of the project throughout, plus safety and quality control.
About the Company/Client/Project:
The client is the busy regional office of a national main contractor, with a turnover in excess of £90m, with secured workload in the education, commercial, local authority and leisure sectors in the Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire areas.
Projects range in size from £15m to £30m, secured through a mixture of national and regional frameworks, negotiated schemes with repeat clients, competitive tenders, and work for the investment arm of the business. There is a good pipeline of future work, with 80% of turnover already secured for 2020
Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
You will ideally be an experienced Senior / Project Manager with a proven track record within a major contracting organisation, able to deliver design & build schemes up to £25m+ in value. Key attributes will include excellent client, design team and site team management ability, technical, contractual and commercial knowledge, plus focus and drive.
Previous experience of working on framework education schemes would be advantageous, including ESFA/DfE and Southern Construction Framework.
