About this Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Land Manager to join the Land team of a well-known National residential developer.

The role:

Improve team profitability and Company margins by efficient land acquisition and trading. Identify, contract and acquire land specifically required by budget or forecast within the parameters of quantity, quality, time and margins as may be defined by the Directors of the Company.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Identify and appraise suitable development land, negotiating terms of contract for acquisition of suitable sites.

Determine appropriate and efficient development of identified and contracted property

Purify contracts on agreed terms and timescale.

Monitor, assess and comment on planning process, managing appeals against refusal of planning permission.

Manage promotion of development on contracted / acquired land through development plan process.

Monitor on-going contractual obligations.

Sell land as directed to benefit region or group budget.

Research and monitor competitors land and product.

Prepare and disseminate reports and information on land.

Periodically assist the Land Director in the review and finalisation of the Land Strategy to ensure a strategically focused and well set out planned approach to delivery of operational land to fuel Business Plan objectives.

Maintain and enhance a contacts network, promoting the company profile and participating in building up the Company’s presence in market areas.

Manage the land bid and land adjudication processes effectively and maintain associated reports accurately (eg Target Dates sheet), highlighting to the Land Director full variances and analysis of risk. Report against pre-agreed KPI’s including the delivery of potential upsides within the business.

Maximise the benefits of and deliver continuous improvement to current business processes

Support the Land Director in managing more complex land deals.

Educated to degree level in Town Planning or similar

Excellent knowledge of the land identification and appraisal processes


High level of proficiency in various computer packages including MS Office Products - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel

Excellent written, verbal and listening skills

Reliable and Flexible


Self-motivated and pro-active

Attention to detail

Acts on own initiative

Excellent planning and organising skills

Ability to show a high level of confidentiality

Willing to take on new responsibilities

Effective at building relationships

Portrays a positive image of self and CALA at all times

Must have proven experience in a similar role managing complex land deals

Candidates must be able to prove their eligibility to work in the UK
