About this Role:

We have a requirement for a permanent Project Manager to work for a Tier 1 Principle Civil Engineering & Construction contractor. Their specialities and focuses for this role are mainly for the Southern Water contracts for the transition from AMP 6 to AMP 7 based in the Hampshire and West Sussex areas. With turnover of £2.8 billion and the number of employees over 5500 people across three very successful businesses, this is a great opportunity for someone with a goal of working in management for a tier 1 contractor.

As the Project Manger you will work alongside the Commercial Team in smooth running and safe working environment for all employees. You will be responsible for Management and co-ordination of projects prior to site commencements. You will play an integral role in directing a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that each stage of the project is safe, progressing on time, on budget and to the right quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Health and safety documents to be correctly recorded.

Preparing a construction phase HSE plan and preparing RAMS.

Select and co-ordinate all subcontracts and labour

Inspect and record incoming materials and their documentation

Ensure that works completed to the quality required, within the agreed programme and within budget.

Actively support the Site Manager to maintain and enforce safety standards as required by statute and in accordance with safety policies.

Prepare monthly valuations and update cost to complete

Liaise with the UK Support Team.

Engage with the Commercial Team to ensure selection of the best Supply Chain partners;

Ensure all pre-commencement Planning Conditions are discharged prior to commencement on site;

Plan and prepare for delivery of the Scheme prior to commencement on site;

Ensure all Temporary Works requirements are understood and designed prior to commencement on site;

Plan, prepare and oversee the establishment of the site offices and compound;

Ensure site team keep site diaries up to date.

Effectively lead and manage direct reports ensuring appropriate competence is maintained, including annuals PDR’s.

Ensure any incidents/accidents are thoroughly investigated, closed out and learnings implemented;

Ensure systems are in place to ensure that the quality of work is to the required standards;

Manage the Construction Teams and Supply Chain partners to ensure delivery of the Scheme in line with the agreed Budget and Programme;

Plan and co-ordinate staff and operative levels that are sufficient to undertake their respective workloads;

Ideally you will come from a strong Water based background within the Civils Engineering Environment.

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

HNC or degree in civil engineering and valid CSCS

SSSTS or SMSTS and ideally First Aid.
