About this Role:
As Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for the safe management of all projects in respect of health, safety and the environment by ensuring full compliance with the Employers standards, company standards, UK/EU Legislation, ACOP`s and providing advice and guidance to the project team to meet the requirements of the contract.
My client is a regional contractor with over 40 years’ experience in the construction industry working within the education, healthcare, hotels and leisure, residential, commercial, industrial, retail and community sectors.
Project values ranging from £2M - £19M
The business is growing and has a vision to grow the turnover and profits by consistently delivering at a high level and providing the best value for their clients.
Projected turnover of £60M for 2019 with £114M secured work currently.
Duties:
Ensure the highest standards of health, safety and environmental management.
Ensure compliance with the UK/EU Legislation, ACOP`s and latest guidance relating to safety, health and the environment.
Responsible for creating, updating and implementing the construction phase health and safety plan including all supporting document in relation to fire, traffic, OH etc.
Responsible for creating, updating and implementing the Project Environmental Management Plan including the Site Waste Management plan.
Review the supply chain competency and oversee the continuous monitoring and assurance of competency.
Ensure work authorisation is achieved and adhered to.
Supporting the Package Manger by ensuring the supply chain provide the necessary and correct pre-requisite information to work on site in line with the Readiness Review Process.
Review RAMS for high risk activities and verify control measures. Ensure RAMS are received, reviewed and accepted.
Ensure all workers are set to work properly and in a safe manner by ensuring daily safe start briefings are carried out.
To ensure POWRA (Point of Works Risk Assessments) are carried out.
Liaise with local authority and central government, statutory enforcement agencies.
Review COSHH assessments for all hazardous substances brought onto site and maintain COSHH stock inventory.
To verify the competence of our staff by ensuring and monitoring the right level of training required for project staff and supervisors on site
To implement and take responsibility for induction of project staff and supply chain in line with the Principal contractor and site requirements.
To audit and promote communication by means of Toolbox talks, ABC`s, Information boards and consultation forums.
Input into the package procurement process ensuring a full and compliant scope in relation to health, safety, environment and security into the post tender review meetings.
Lead and run the monthly project HSE meetings.
Attend and participate in the monthly HPC HSE committee, HPC Contractors Safety Forum
Record data and report against agreed KPI`s
Ensure the monthly SHE consultation meetings and regular supply chain briefings are carried out.
Be responsible for all temporary works, lifting operations, high risk activities on site.

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
You will have experience of working within the Construction industry for main contractors, specifically on D&B new build and refurbishment projects.
Candidates must:
Essential:
Minimum 3-5 years` experience of HSE Management for Tier 1 contactors within a regulated and process driven environment.
Demonstrates strong attention to detail, produce accurate work and be methodical
Be innovative by identifying and implementing new ways to do things to achieve better ways of working
NEBOSH National Diploma Level
Environmental Training - Minimum SEATS
OHSAS 18001 familiarisation
Desirable:
Degree level in Health, Safety and the Environment
ISO 45001 familiarisation
