About this Role:
Due to the busy start of 2020 a reputable civil engineering contractor are looking to recruit an additional General Foreman to work on a specialist marine project in Hampshire. The work includes extending the quay wall of a busy Hampshire port to allow larger cruise ships to berth. Ideally the right candidate will have experience of managing a direct labour force and working with pre-cast concrete.
The business will also give you the opportunity to work on diverse projects in the region including coastal protection, urban regenerations, flood alleviation schemes, bespoke groundworks, roads and infrastructure. They are a principal contractor and traditionally deliver projects between £5m - £15 million.
You will work closely with your site team to manage costs against the budget, manage quality to meet client’s requirements and ensure work is completed in-line with the programme. Typically the site set up will consist of a Project or Site Manager, Site Engineer(s), Quantity Surveyor and a General Foreman. You’ll be responsible for:
Ordering plant, labour and materials
Leading toolbox talks and site inductions
Working with the Site Manager to raise early warnings
Promote the highest levels of health and safety on site
Liaise with stakeholders on public facing projects
Ensure your work force is working effectively and efficiently
Reading drawings with the site engineer to coordinate gangs and overcome design difficulties
Ensure risk assessments and method statements and being adhered to
