The Purpose of a CV
A Curriculum Vitae shows a potential employer or Agent a snap shot of you, it is a sales document which is used to demonstrate your personal skills, experience, qualifications and achievements which will be of benefit to the company and the role.
The current train of thought re Curriculum Vitae length is 2 to 3 pages. It should be kept simple and flow sensibly, showing career path and typical projects all in reverse order.
Special Achievements, Promotions or change in direction should be shown clearly with a brief explanation of why and when.
Qualifications both academic and work related are increasingly important theses days especially Health and Safety, CSCS, First Aid at Work etc. theses indicated ongoing training and should be highlighted.
Remember a Curriculum Vitae is a sales document to get you an interview with a prospective employer, keep it concise with facts, all ancillary questions can be answered when you are sitting in front of the decision maker.
